The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys do battle in a week 3 Monday Night Football NFL contest from MetLife Stadium. Dallas is 1-1 so far and coming off a close win versus the Bengals. As for the Giants, they’re sitting at 2-0. New York managed a three-point victory over the Panthers in their last game. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.
Dallas’ season started out pretty rough. The Cowboys took on the Buccaneers in their opener, failing to score in the final three quarters in a 19-3 blowout loss. Ezekiel Elliott rushed 10 times for 52 yards in that one, and Noah Brown led the receivers on five catches for 68 yards.
Game two went better for Dallas, but it was a tense game. The Cowboys scored just three points after halftime in an eventual 20-17 win. New QB Cooper Rush posted 235 yards with a TD, and Elliott rushed for 53 yards. Brown led the receivers again with 91 yards and a score.
Over on the Giants’ side, they’ve got a couple of close wins under their belt so far. The first one came in the opener versus the Titans. New York came back from a 13-0 halftime deficit for a 21-20 victory. QB Daniel Jones threw for 188 yards, two scores and an interception.
Game two was another success for the Giants. They took on Carolina and hung on for a 19-16 victory. Jones posted 176 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-34 passing, while Saquon Barkley rushed for 72 yards. Richie James added five catches for 51 yards.
The Cowboys are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 versus the NFC. Dallas is 5-2 ATS in their last seven Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Giants are 10-22-1 ATS in their last 33 at home and 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall. New York is 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the NFC.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Giants here, but you could make a case for the Cowboys as well. I’m staying away from this one. That said, we should have a very fun matchup on our hands. The Giants haven’t exactly been blowing anyone’s minds this year, but they’re getting the job done. New York posted a tepid 265 yards of offense in the Panther’s win, with just 3.8 yards per play. The Giants held the Panthers to 275 yards on the other side, however, along with two turnovers and a 2-of-12 rate on third-down tries. It’s been a gutsy couple of wins so far.
As for the Cowboys, they’ve seen quite a bit of adversity already this season and responded well with the win over the Bengals. That one wasn’t exactly pretty either, so it’s tough to know what to expect in game three against a rivalry opponent. I’m leaning Giants, but it should be a very entertaining matchup either way.
