The Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots meet Monday in NFL action from Gillette Stadium. Chicago is just 2-4 overall and coming off a loss to the Commanders last Thursday. As for New England, they’re 3-3 so far and took out the Browns in their last outing. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago’s season started out on a promising note with a 19-10 win over the 49ers. The Bears would then lose to the Packers 27-10 before getting their second win over the Texans 23-20. Losses to the Giants 20-12 and the Vikings 29-22 followed.

Last Thursday versus the Commanders, the Bears had a 7-3 lead going into the fourth quarter. Chicago gave up nine unanswered points in a 12-7 loss. QB Justin Fields put up 190 yards with a TD and a pick, and also led the rush with 12 carries and 88 yards.

Over on the Patriots’ side, they lost to the Dolphins 20-7 to start out the year but then beat the Steelers 17-14 in the next game. Consecutive losses followed versus the Ravens 37-26 and the Packers 27-24 before a 29-0 win over the Lions.

In their most recent game versus the Browns, the Patriots caught fire in the second half. New England posted 14 points in each of the final two quarters in a 38-15 win. Quarterback Bailey Zappe managed 309 yards with two scores, and Rhamondre Stevenson rushed for 76 yards and two TDs.

The Bears are 2-5 ATS in the last seven on turf and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. Chicago is 0-4 ATS in their last four in Week 7.

Meanwhile, the Patriots are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven in Week 7 and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five overall. New England is 5-2 ATS in their last seven at home.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with the Patriots. New England did a pretty solid all-round job versus the Browns, with 399 yards (301 passing), 20 first downs and 7-of-14 on third-down tries. It was a sloppy game however; the Pats committed 12 penalties for 92 yards. Still, New England has hit 24 or more points in each of their last four outings so the offense is humming along well.

As for Chicago, they outperformed the Commanders in most categories during their last game, but couldn’t close things out in the fourth. It’s not going to get any easier for the Bears in this one, and I don’t think they’ll get too close.
