The Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets meet Sunday in NFL action from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Here’s a Jets vs Dolphins prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Jets vs Dolphins pick.
Miami Dolphins Betting Preview
It’s been a tough run for the Dolphins so far. Miami has suffered through a string of losses this year, dropping five straight ahead of their bye week. Those defeats have come courtesy of the Las Vegas Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals in succession for an 0-5 start to the season.
Back on October 11 versus the Bengals, the Dolphins gave up three touchdowns in the first half on the way to a 21-7 deficit. After the break Miami got better but couldn’t keep the pace in an eventual loss 31-24. QB Malik Willis was 15-of-27 for 137 yards, one TD and one pick. Ollie Gordon had 18 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort for Miami.
New York Jets Betting Preview
Over on the Jets’ side, they haven’t been doing as badly as usual, but that’s not saying much. New York opened with a win over the Tennessee Titans, then lost three straight games versus the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. After another win over the Cleveland Browns, the Jets were 2-3 through the first five games of the year.
Matched up against the rival Patriots last weekend the Jets were pretty quiet in the first half and went into the break with a 17-3 deficit. New York woke up in the second half with a TD and a few field goals but couldn’t catch up in a 26-19 loss. QB Geno Smith was 20-of-30 for 252 yards, one TD and one pick. Braelon Allen led the rush with 17 carries for 78 yards in the loss.

Jets vs Dolphins Prediction
I’ll stay with Miami but you could argue it either way. The Dolphins didn’t play horrendously against the Bengals in their latest loss, racking up 331 yards, 217 rush yards and 23 first downs offensively. The D gave up 22 first downs and 307 yards with one takeaway, and Miami’s three turnovers didn’t help the cause. The good news for the Dolphins is that this is a winnable game they’ve had ample opportunity to get ready for.
As for the Jets, they rarely win games in Foxborough and that trend held last weekend. New York ended up with 324 total yards, 21 first downs and a pretty rough 3-of-10 on third-down tries. Defensively the Jets gave up 383 yards and 22 first downs alongside a couple of fumble recoveries. Miami will be a much more manageable opponent and this is a winnable game for the Jets.
