The New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles meet in week 17 NFL action from Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday afternoon.
The New Orleans Saints will look to build on a 17-10 win over Cleveland in their last game. Andy Dalton has thrown for 2,495 yards, 17 touchdowns and 8 interceptions on 66.2% passing while Alvin Kamara leads the Saints on the ground with 717 rushing yards and Taysom Hill has 505 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns. Chris Olave leads the Saints with 63 catches for 940 receiving yards while Kamara has 480 receiving yards and Juan Johnson has 425 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Demario Davis has a team-high 94 total tackles and 6.5 sacks while Cameron Jordan and Kaden Elliss each have 5.5 sacks. Tyrann Mathieu also has a pair of interceptions this season for New Orleans.
The Philadelphia Eagles will try to bounce back from a 40-34 loss to Dallas in their last game. Jalen Hurts has thrown for 3,472 yards, 22 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 67.3% passing while also rushing for 747 yards and 13 TDs. Miles Sanders has a team-high 1,175 rushing yards and 11 TDs while A.J. Brown has a team-high 1,304 receiving yards, 10 TDs and 80 receptions this season. DeVonta Smith has 1,014 receiving yards and 7 TDs while Dallas Goedert has 611 receiving yards as well this season. On defense, T.J. Edwards has a team-high 138 total tackles including 81 solo tackles while Philly’s defense as a unit has 61 sacks and 16 interceptions this season.
New Orleans is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record and 40-19 ATS in their last 59 road games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Philadelphia is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 11-1 in their last 12 home games.
I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I’m sticking with Philadelphia here. At this time of this writing, the Eagles look to be without Jalen Hurts again, and it would be in Philly’s best interest to make sure he’s back for the postseason. However, the Saints are still a team I’m not looking to back in any way, shape or form given their QB situation right now and I just think the Eagles are the better team with something to play for, as they’ve yet to fully lock up the NFC East while also trying to solidify home field throughout the playoffs. I think the Eagles just prove to be too much for the Saints here, so I’ll lay the points with Philadelphia here.
