Baltimore went 3-2 over their first five games this year, bagging wins over the Jets, Patriots and Bengals. The next six games were a 4-2 run: the wins were versus the Browns, Buccaneers, Saints and Panthers. The losses came courtesy of the Giants and Jaguars.
On Sunday versus the Broncos, the Ravens faced a 9-3 deficit (and an injury to QB Lamar Jackson) going into the fourth quarter. Baltimore was able to score a TD and hang on for a 10-9 win. Backup QB Tyler Huntley posted 187 yards and a pick.
Over on the Steelers’ side, they lost four of their first five games to the Patriots, Browns, Jets and Bills. Pittsburgh then hit a 3-3 run with wins over the Buccaneers, Saints and Colts alongside losses to the Dolphins, Eagles and Bengals.
Matched up against the Falcons last weekend, Pittsburgh held a 19-13 edge going into the fourth quarter. The Steelers were able to hang on for a 19-16 victory. QB Kenny Pickett posted 197 yards and a score, while Najee Harris had 86 yards on 17 carries.
The Ravens are 5-0 ATS in their last five in Week 14 and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine overall. Baltimore is 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight at home. Pittsburgh is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 in December.
PICK: I’m leaning toward the Steelers. Probably staying away from this one. Games between these teams are almost always close battles, and that’s without the Lamar Jackson injury drama surrounding this matchup. Considering that development the Steelers probably have the advantage. Baltimore is a much different team with Tyler Huntley under center. (Jackson is suffering from a sprained knee. It’s looking like he’ll be sidelined from one to three weeks.)
Pittsburgh hasn’t knocked anyone’s socks off this year, but they’re coming off a quality showing versus Atlanta. The Steelers are going to need to keep the scoring up in this one, though; they’ve hit 19-plus points in four straight games, which isn’t too bad for them this season.
