In this article we will formulate a Rams vs Texans prediction for this NFL game on Sunday, September 7th at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this week 1 matchup.

Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Rams went 10-7 last season and they finished first in the NFC West standings, as they won the tiebreak with Seattle. Los Angeles started the season by losing four of their first five games, but they locked in and won nine of the next eleven, before losing in the finale. The Rams picked up wins against the 49ers (2), Raiders, Vikings, Seahawks, Patriots, Saints, Bills, Jets, and Cardinals, while they lost against the Lions, Cardinals, Bears, Packers, Dolphins, Eagles, and Seahawks. Los Angeles hosted a first round playoff game, where they defeated Minnesota by a score of 27-9, but they lost on the road against Philadelphia by a score of 28-22 in the second round. The Rams scored 21.6 points per game in 2024, which was ranked 20th in the NFL, while they allowed 22.7 points against per game, which was ranked 17th.

During the preseason, Los Angeles won the first two games against the Cowboys and Chargers by scores of 31-21 and 23-22, but they lost the finale by a score of 19-17 against the Browns. The Rams are expected to have Stafford under center for this game, but he is dealing with an injury, so it is possible we see Garoppolo or Bennett. Los Angeles will have Kyren Willams has their lead back, while Blake Corum is listed second. The Rams lost Kupp from last year, but they will have Nacua and Adams on the outside, while Higbee is the tight end.

Houston Texans Betting Preview

The Houston Texans were 10-7 last year and they also finished first in their division, as they beat out the Colts by two games in the AFC South. Houston won five of their first six games to start the season very well, but they lost four of the next six and only went 5-6 over their last 11. The Texans got wins against the Colts, Bears, Jaguars (2), Bills, Patriots, Colts, Cowboys, Dolphins, and Titans, while they lost to the Vikings, Packers, Jets, Lions, Titans, Chiefs, and Ravens. Houston also made the postseason, where they defeated the Chargers by a score of 32-12 in their first game, but lost to the Chiefs by a score of 23-14 in the second round. Houston scored 21.9 points per game last year, which was ranked 19th in the NFL, while they allowed 21.9 points against per game, which was ranked 14th.

In the preseason, Houston lost their first game against Minnesota by a score of 20-10, but they did win their last two against Carolina and Detroit by scores of 20-3 and 26-7. Houston has CJ Stroud back at quarterback, who had a very inconsistent 2024, so he has plenty to improve upon. The Texans will start Nick Chubb at running back, while Nico Collins, Christian Kirk, and Dalton Schultz are expected to lead the passing game.

Rams vs Texans Prediction

Both of these teams made the postseason in 2024, but starting the season with a win in this game would go a long way in getting back there. The Rams have some injury questions surrounding Stafford, which is never a good thing, so I question how ready he will be for this game. Houston needs to get off to a fast start, as the offense sputtered down the stretch last year and Stroud lost confidence. I don’t love the Stafford situation and I need to see how he plays before backing them, so give me Houston on the road.
