Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview
The Cowboys have missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons and enter year 2 under coach Brian Schottenheimer. Despite recent disappointment, the Cowboys believe they can have major success this season.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is on record that he’s thinking about a Super Bowl this season, and there’s good reason, at least on the offensive side. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are arguably the best wide receiver duo, and Jake Ferguson is a super underrated tight end. The offensive line remains intact as well. The Cowboys were one of the best offenses in the league last season, and everybody returns for an encore.
The Cowboys were awful defensively, but there’s optimism under defensive coordinator Christian Parker. Dallas also attacked this side of the ball by bringing in Rashan Gary, Malachi Lawrence, Caleb Downs, and Dee Winters. There’s a lot of new faces on this Cowboys defense, but the talent is there. On paper, the Cowboys should be one of the most improved teams in the NFL. However, the Cowboys have a history of failing to meet expectations, so take a wait-and-see approach.
Seattle Seahawks Betting Preview
The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a Super Bowl title and have to believe they can make a rare run at a repeat. Mike Macdonald is in his third season as head coach, and there’s a new offensive playcaller in Brian Fleury.
The offense is pretty much the same unit as last year outside of running back Kenneth Walker III. Sam Darnold is at quarterback; rookie Jadarian Price will get a ton of playing time out of the gate. The offensive line remains intact, and there’s an elite wide receiver group in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, and Rashid Shaheed. As long as Darnold doesn’t turn into a pumpkin, the Seahawks should be an above-average offense.
Defensively, the Seahawks lost some pieces from an elite unit, but the core is still in place with Devon Witherspoon, DeMarcus Lawrence, Leonard Williams, and Ernest Jones. Bud Clark and Julian Neal are nice additions through the draft. This Seahawks defense is still strong, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see another run at a title given the balance of the roster.

Those who have followed me over the years know my handicapping in preseason is all about the quarterback position. The rest of the positions are toss-ups, and you have no idea who is going to play nd for how long. The one constant thing is decent quarterback play and the guys who can put points on the board.
I like the over in this spot. Both quarterback rooms have experience, and that gives me confidence they’ll be able to move the ball against lesser defenders. Sam Howell has more than 600 pass attempts under his belt, and Joe Milton is an athlete who has earned some reps in recent years. Drew Lock is an NFL veteran with 34 career passing touchdowns, and Jalen Milroe is also an athlete who can make plays with both his arm and feet. We have guys who have real NFL reps, so I expect sustained drives and points. Give me the over.
