The Seattle Seahawks battle the Denver Broncos Saturday in week 2 NFL preseason action from Lumen Field in Seattle. Both teams have a preseason game in the bag already. The Broncos managed a big win over the Vikings this past weekend. As for Seattle, they fell by 13 to the Raiders in their first game. Denver had another disappointing season in 2020, and failed to improve upon their 7-9 record from 2019. The Broncos ended up going just 5-11, finishing in the basement of the AFC West. Denver has had four straight losing seasons, and they’ve missed the playoffs for five consecutive years.
Denver got off to a nice start in their first preseason game versus the Vikings, posting a big 33-6 victory. The Broncos jumped out to a 26-6 halftime lead in that one and never looked back. QB Drew Lock posted a 5-of-7 line for 151 yards and two scores during the win.
Over on the Seahawks’ side, they had an encouraging regular season last year, going 12-4 overall and taking the NFC West crown. It was a short trip to the playoffs for the Seahawks however, as they lost the Wild Card Playoffs to the Rams 30-20 in a disappointing ending.
Seattle couldn’t get much going offensively in their first game versus the Raiders over the weekend, logging a 20-7 preseason defeat. The Seahawks fell behind 13-0 at the break and couldn’t catch up despite a third-quarter touchdown. Alex McGough threw the score and also posted 54 yards with a 6-of-10 line.
The Broncos are 6-1 ATS in their last seven on turf and 0-5 ATS in their last five Saturday games. The over is 4-1 in Denver’s last five Saturday games and 22-10 in their last 32 on turf.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and the over is 5-1 in their last six Saturday games. The under is 5-1 in Seattle’s last six on turf and 4-1 in their last five at home.
PICK: I’m likely going to stick with the Broncos. Denver posted some encouraging numbers offensively in the win over the Vikings, notching 249 passing yards and 387 total yards. The Broncos also had 20 first downs with a nice 7-of-12 mark on third downs. As for Seattle, they couldn’t quite find their groove in most facets, giving up 26 first downs (to their own nine) and 385 total yards (to their own 194) versus the Raiders. I like Seattle to step it up another notch here, but I think Denver will keep it rolling on a cover.
