The New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers meet Friday in NFL action from Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Here’s a Steelers vs Jets prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Steelers vs Jets pick.

New York Jets Betting Preview

The Jets had yet another disappointing campaign last year. New York began 2025 with their fourth head coach in eight years and didn’t improve on their rough 5-12 record from 2024. The Jets fell in their opening seven games ahead of a win over the Cincinnati Bengals, then were knocked out of postseason status with a blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 14. The Jets’ 3-14 record put them in last place among the AFC East and saw them miss the postseason for the 15th straight year.

In last Friday’s preseason opener versus the Buccaneers, the Jets opened up a 10-0 lead after the first quarter, then got outscored 24-6 the rest of the way in a 24-16 loss. QB Brady Cook put up 108 yards on 9-of-15 passing, while Bailey Zappe had 55 yards and a couple of picks. Braelon Allen led the rush on 44 yards and a score off four totes.

Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview

Over on the Steelers’ side, they had a crazy campaign last year. The regular season was pretty good overall, but the playoffs run featured the same story. In the 19th and final year for head coach Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh logged a 10-7 record, the same as both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. It was also the third straight playoff berth for the Steelers, and marked the end of a four-year AFC North title drought. The Steelers took out the rival Baltimore Ravens in Week 18 to bag the division championship. That said, Pittsburgh failed the keep the momentum going in the Wild Card game versus the Houston Texans. The Steelers lost a blowout 30-6 in that one, giving the team seven straight postseason defeats dating back to 2016.

In their preseason opener last week versus the Green Bay Packers, the Steelers managed to power out a nice 28-9 win with 14 fourth-quarter points. QB Drew Allar bagged 153 yards and two scores on 10-of-13 passing, and Lew Nichols led the rush on 10 carries for 36 yards and a TD. Kaden Wetjen added two catches for 79 yards and a big TD as the leading receiver.

Steelers vs Jets Prediction

I’ll stay with Pittsburgh, but it’s preseason so anything can happen. The Steelers did look good in their exhibition opener, even though it took the offense a little while to really get going. Pitt ended up with 385 total yards (313 passing), 6.0 yards per play and 25 first downs. The defense held Green Bay to just 160 yards overall. That said, it was a sloppy outing with the Steelers accounting for 11 of the game’s 21 penalties for 134 total yards. I’d like to see a cleaner effort here, as well as an improved run game (72 yards versus the Pack).

As for the Jets, they had a good first quarter in their preseason opener versus Tampa Bay, eventually notching 284 yards (193 pass) and 5.0 yards per play. Still, New York only had 15 first downs with a 5-of-13 success rate on third-down tries alongside two picks. There’s plenty of room for improvement.
