The Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans meet Sunday in NFL action from Nissan Stadium. Here’s a Titans vs Colts prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Titans vs Colts pick.
Indianapolis Colts Betting Preview
The Colts didn’t have a ton of issues in their opener this year, taking on the Miami Dolphins at home. Indianapolis scored points in every quarter—including 17 in the second alone—on the way to a dominant 33-8 victory. QB Daniel Jones was 22-of-29 for 272 yards and a TD, while Jonathan Taylor led the rush on 18 carries for 71 yards. (Jones also rushed in a pair of scores himself.) Tops in receiving was Michael Pittman with six grabs for 80 yards and the TD. Tyler Warren would add seven catches for 76 yards.
In game two last weekend versus the Denver Broncos, the Colts were fighting it out the whole way, taking a one-point deficit into the break. At the end of the game, Indianapolis had a 29-28 victory—thanks in part to a wild finish. QB Daniel Jones was 23-of-34 for 316 yards and a score, while also posting a rush TD. Jonathan Taylor carried 25 times for 165 yards, and Tyler Warren topped the receivers on four catches for 79 yards in the tight win.
Tennessee Titans Betting Preview
Over on the Tennessee side, they took on the aforementioned Denver Broncos in their first game of the season. The Titans were within one point by the fourth quarter but ultimately fell 20-12. QB Cameron Ward finished with 112 yards on 12-of-28 passing. Tops in rushing was Tony Pollard with 18 totes for 60 yards, and Pollard also led the receiving corps with his lone 29-yard catch. Calvin Ridley added four catches for 27 yards as well.
Matched up against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, the Titans held a 13-10 edge by halftime. Tennessee gave up 23 points in the final two quarters though, resulting in a loss 33-19 in the end. Ward was 19-of-33 for 175 yards and a TD this time, and Pollard again topped the rush with 92 yards on his 20 carries. Ridley was atop the receiving corps again with three catches for 57 yards, and Epic Ayomanor caught four balls for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Titans vs Colts Prediction
I’ll lean toward Indianapolis. You could probably call this one either way, though. In reality I’m probably staying away all together. In any case, the Colts got a late gift in the form of a last-second penalty on Sunday, resulting in an improbable comeback win. It was a pretty sloppy game overall prior to that however, as Indy accounted for 11 of the game’s 19 flags. The good news however, is that the Colts offense was quite well-rounded on 473 yards (306 passing), 7.1 yards per play and 26 first downs. On defense Indianapolis surrendered 324 yards (206 passing), 6.0 yards per play and 23 first downs but didn’t do too badly on third-down stops (4-of-9). Including the 33-point drubbing of the Dolphins in Week 1, that gives the Colts a combined 62 points across the first two outings. That’s not too shabby. If Indianapolis can keep it up this weekend, they’ll be in a great position.
As for the Titans, they played a pretty mistake-prone game in their loss to the Rams. Tennessee posted 10 penalties for 62 yards, while a tepid offense collected just 252 yards (143 passing), 3.9 yards per play, 18 first downs and a 6-of-15 run on third-down tries. The Titans held LA in check on third downs (5-of-12) pretty well but gave up 439 yards total and 7.4 yards per play. I don’t see them keeping a cover pace on Indianapolis, but it’s a coin flip.
