The Washington Commanders and Minnesota Vikings clash Sunday in a week 9 NFL game from FedEx Field.

The Minnesota Vikings will look to build on their current five-game win streak, sitting at 6-1 on the year after a 34-26 win over Arizona in their last game. Kirk Cousins has thrown for 1,734 yards, 11 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 66.3% passing while Dalvin Cook leads the Vikings in rushing with 561 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns this season. Justin Jefferson leads the Vikings’ receiving group with 52 grabs for 752 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Adam Thielen has 35 grabs for 351 receiving yards this season. On defense, Jordan Hicks has a team-high 62 total tackles including 42 solo tackles while Za’Darius Smith has 8.5 sacks this season.

The Washington Commanders will try to build on their 3rd straight win in the form of a 17-16 win over Indianapolis to get back to .500 at 4-4 on the year. Carson Wentz has thrown for 1,489 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 62.1% passing while Taylor Heinicke’s tossed for 480 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 67.2% passing. Antonio Gibson’s rushed for 292 yards and a pair of scores while Terry McLaurin has a team-high 553 receiving yards with a pair of scores and Curtis Samuel has a team-high 42 grabs for 390 yards and a pair of touchdowns as well. On defense, Cole Holcomb leads Washington with 69 total tackles including 37 solo tackles while Washington’s defense has combined for 21 sacks on the year.

Minnesota is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against the NFC while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Washington is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games following a win while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall.

I’m not going out of my way to back either of these teams, but I do lean towards the Vikings here. Maybe it’s time to admit the Vikings might actually be good, as I’ve been harsh on Kirk Cousins for much of this season. The Vikings keep finding ways to win and that’s all that matters. Washington is still on their backup QB here and struggled to get by the Colts with a backup that hadn’t thrown an NFL pass entering that game. The Commanders are on a roll themselves, winning 3 straight, but the Vikings have the better wins over their five game run and I think the Vikes make it six here. Give me the Vikings and lay the points.
