The Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots clash Sunday afternoon in week 2 NFL action from Heinz Field. New England is 0-1 so far and coming off a loss to the Dolphins in their opener. As for the Steelers, they played an overtime game versus the Bengals and eked out a Week 1 victory. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.

The Patriots were pretty flat in their opener matchup versus the Dolphins. New England was down 17-0 by halftime and could only muster a third-quarter touchdown during a 20-7 loss to an AFC East rival.

In the opener, New England QB Mac Jones finished with 213 yards, one TD and one pick. Damien Harris was the team’s top rusher with nine carries for 48 yards, and Jakobi Meyers led the receivers on four catches for 55 yards.

Over on the Steelers’ side, they started out with a heart-attack inducing matchup versus a division rival. Pittsburgh was up 17-6 at the break but still needed overtime after Cincinnati mustered a comeback. At game’s end the Steelers had a 23-20 win.

Mitch Trubisky managed 21-of-38 passing in his season debut with 194 yards and a touchdown. Chase Claypool was the top rusher with six carries for 36 yards, and Pat Freiermuth managed 75 yards with five receptions.

The Patriots are 6-2 ATS in their last eight as a favorite and 6-2 ATS in their last eight in Week 2. New England is 1-5 ATS in the last six overall.

Meanwhile, the Steelers are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 versus the AFC and 36-15-2 ATS in their last 53 as an underdog. Pittsburgh is 2-8 ATS in the last 10 after an ATS win.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Patriots. This game certainly seems like a coin-flip proposition however, so you could make a case either way. New England did some positive things in their opener versus the Dolphins, but they were hampered by three turnovers and very little time for the offense on the field. It’ll take some cleanup but I think the Pats will perform better here.

As for Pittsburgh, they benefitted from a whopping five turnovers (four picks) by the Bengals in their opener. It offset a 432-267 difference in yardage amid an otherwise tepid performance. I’m expecting another tight game here.
