The Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions square off Sunday in a week 3 NFC North matchup in NFL action from U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Detroit Lions will be out to build on a 36-27 win over Washington in their last matchup. Jared Goff has thrown for 471 yards, 6 touchdowns and an interception on 57.7% passing while D’Andre Swift leads the Lions with 200 rushing yards and a touchdown. Amon-Ra St. Brown has a team-high 17 receptions for 180 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Detroit’s receiver group this season. On defense, Tracy Walker III leads the Lions with 18 total tackles while Jeff Okudah has a team-high 12 solo tackles. Aidan Hutchinson has a team-high 3 sacks as well this season for Detroit.
The Minnesota Vikings will try to rebound after a 24-7 loss to Philadelphia on Monday night football in week 2. Kirk Cousins has thrown for 498 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 64.1% passing while Dalvin Cook leads the Vikings in rushing with 107 rushing yards this season. Justin Jefferson leads the Vikings’ receiving group with 15 grabs for 232 yards and a pair of touchdowns this season. On defense, Harrison Smith has a team-high 20 total tackles including 18 solo tackles while Danielle Hunter and D.J. Wonnum each have 2 sacks this season.
Detroit is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 division games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 games in September. Minnesota is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a win while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a loss.
I’ll give the Vikings some recognition, they’ve got some solid names on their roster. However, we saw a completely different Vikings team on Monday night than the one that whipped the Packers in the season opener. Now, the Vikings come in on a short week and take on a Lions team that’s hungry and is playing pretty well right now. The Lions are looking fantastic on offense and I think they can ride that offense to a cover at the very least here so give me Detroit plus the points.
