The Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons do battle Sunday afternoon in a NFL week 3 game from Lumen Field. The Falcons are 0-2 so far this year and coming off a four-point loss to the Rams. As for the Seahawks, they’re sitting at 1-1 following last weekend’s loss to the 49ers. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.

Atlanta kicked off the 2022 season with a tight game against the Saints. The Falcons had a 23-10 lead going into the final quarter, but coughed up 17 more points on the way to a 27-26 loss. QB Marcus Mariota finished with 215 yards on 20-of-33 passing in the defeat.

In week two versus the Rams, the Falcons played another close one. This time Atlanta was down 28-10 in the fourth but would show some late life in a 31-27 loss. Mariota had 196 yards with two TDs and two picks, and Drake London caught eight balls for 86 yards and a score.

Over on the Seahawks’ side, they played Denver in their opening game. Seattle failed to score in the second half but still held on for the 17-16 win. QB Geno Smith finished with 195 yards and two scores, and Rashaad Penny led the rush with 12 carries for 60 yards.

Game two didn’t go as well for the Seahawks, and they weren’t competitive either. Seattle was down 20-0 by the break and limped to a 27-7 loss. Smith had 197 yards and an interception in the defeat, and Tyler Lockett led the receivers on 107 yards from nine grabs.

The Falcons are 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine road games and the over is 8-1 in their last nine in week three. The over is 22-9 in Atlanta’s last 31 on turf.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 in week three and 5-2 ATS in their last seven at home. Seattle is 6-13 ATS in the last 19 versus the NFC.

PICK: I’m probably staying with the Seahawks but not touching it. Both teams need a good showing in this one, and it should be close. Seattle managed just 216 yards of offense in the week two loss, with 14 first downs, 10 penalties, three turnovers and 21:40 in time of possession. There’s not much to be happy about, and the team has a lot to work on at practice.

As for the Falcons, they fared a little better in yardage (261) but also had a tepid 17 first downs with three turnovers in their loss to the Rams. I like Atlanta to bounce back and stay competitive in this one, with Seattle eking out a cover.
