The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions do battle Sunday in week 7 NFL action from AT&T Stadium. Detroit is fresh off a bye week; the Lions last appeared in a shutout loss to the Patriots. As for the Cowboys, they’re 4-2 so far this year and fresh off a loss to the rival Eagles. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.
Detroit kicked off the year with a close 38-35 loss to the Eagles, but then bounced back with a 36-27 win over Washington in Week 2. The next two games didn’t go so well however: a 28-24 loss to the Vikings and a 48-45 loss to the Seahawks.
In their most recent outing versus the Patriots, Detroit gave up points in every quarter, eventually falling in a futile 29-0 result. QB Jared Goff posted 229 yards with a pick, and Jamaal Williams led the rush on 15 carries for 56 yards.
Over on the Cowboys’ side, their year started off on a sour note with a 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay. Dallas was able to bounce back well however, taking wins over the Bengals 20-17, the Giants 23-16, the Commanders 25-10 and the Rams 22-10 in the next quartet.
Back on Sunday versus the Eagles, Dallas was down 20-3 by halftime. The Cowboys tried to make a game of it but ultimately lost 26-17. QB Cooper Rush managed 181 yards, one TD and three picks. Ezekiel Elliott rushed 13 times for 81 yards and a score.
The Lions are 5-0 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five in Week 7. Detroit is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 versus the NFC.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 4-0 ATS in their last four on turf and 10-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Dallas is 6-1 ATS in their last seven in October.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Dallas. Probably not touching it, though. The Cowboys need a bounce-back game after their loss to the undefeated Eagles, though. Dallas notched 315 total yards with 21 first downs and 4.9 yards per play in the loss, but also had three picks, 10 penalties and a sketchy 4-of-10 run on third-down tries. That said, the Cowboys should match up better in this one.
As for Detroit, the week off should do the team some good; the team still has trouble on both sides of the ball, however. Detroit had 312 total yards with 17 first downs and a 4-of-18 rate on third- and fourth-down tries in their latest game. I don’t see the numbers getting much better here if Dallas is on point at home.
