The Anaheim Ducks will look to make it back to back wins as they travel from Minnesota to Winnipeg to take on the Jets who are undefeated in the early going this season.
The Ducks were one of the league’s best last season but fell in the opening round of the playoffs, leaving Ducks management with some decisions and so far in 2013-14 they have seen mixed results. Anaheim’s biggest offseason move was sending forward Bobby Ryan to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Jakub Silfverberg and while the latter has netted two goals for the Ducks this season, I think they really miss the playmaking ability of Bobby Ryan. Anaheim had a great goaltending tandem that contributed to a large part of their success last season and while both netminders are back between the pipes for the Ducks they have struggled a little bit in the early going. Anaheim will head to Winnipeg to take on the surprising Jets who have looked very solid in their two victories thus far.

Winnipeg is one of the toughest places in the league to play and the Los Angeles Kings found that out the hard way as the Jets dominated the Kings in their home opener and they’ll look to make it two in a row with a Sunday night victory against the Ducks. Winnipeg is very deep across the board despite not having one major superstar on their roster that stand out above the rest but perhaps that is the winning recipe for Winnipeg and so far they have looked the part in Edmonton and at home against the Kings. This is a very good spot for the Jets as they get the Ducks in a back to back on home ice which is the exact context the Jets had when facing the Kings and to me the Kings are a better team than the Ducks. I look for the Jets faithful to once again play a role in this contest and I think that Winnipeg gets the better of Anaheim here with another convincing win.
