It could be the game of the night on Saturday as the Montreal Canadiens head to Vancouver to take on the Canucks. After a sloppy performance ended in a 3-2 loss to the Calgary Flames earlier this week the Canadiens were determined to rebound against the Oilers in Edmonton. They did just that after a sluggish start and falling behind 1-0 early in the second period. Brendan Gallagher and Brandon Prust scored second period goals to give Montreal the lead heading into the third, and Alex Galchenyuk and Max Pacioretty added third period goals as the Canadiens went on to the 4-1 win. Peter Budaj played a strong game in goal filling in for Carey Price, stopping 27 of the 28 shots he faced in the victory. Expect Carey Price back in there for this contest with the Canucks in what should be a great hockey game between two teams that will get at each other from the drop of the puck.
In Vancouver the Canucks have played pretty well to start the year except for their inability to beat the San Jose Sharks. The Canucks are 3-2-0 on the young season with both losses coming to the Sharks by a combined score of 8-2. They've scored 14 goals in their three victories but for whatever reason San Jose just has their number right now. Mike Santorelli scored the only goal of the game for Vancouver in a game where not much went right right. Roberto Luongo allowed three goals on 28 shots to take the loss as the Canucks were beaten pretty handily in the faceoff dot and all aspects of the game. They'll get the Canadiens at the end of their western Canada swing so look for them to come out strong early on and try and set a tone against Montreal. This game could have a lot of fireworks.
