It was a big win for the Jets on Saturday night that helped to end their three game losing streak. Evander Kane scored his sixth goal of the season in the second period and it looked like it might hold up as the difference maker behind Ondrej Pavelec who was fantastic. The Dallas Stars evened things up in the third and the two teams headed to overtime Pavelec denied all three Stars shooters in the skills competitiion and Andrew Ladd tallied the only goal as Winnipeg went on to the 2-1 victory. Things get a little more challenging with a back-to-back on Sunday coming against the hottest team in the NHL. The Colorado Avalanche improved their record to 9-1-0 on the year with a 4-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night. Matt Duchene is playing out of his mind to start the year and once again he was the best player on the ice. He's becoming a star in the league and is making all of his teammates better every time he's on the ice. Duchene scored twice, his seventh and eighth goals of the season, and Erik Johnson and Alex Tanguay also scored for Colorado. Semyon Varlamov made 28 saves and picked up another win. They'll be more rested and at home in this one and with the way they've played this season it's hard not to like their chances.
