The Canadiens and Rangers do battle from Madison Square Garden as the Habs look for another road win while the Blue Shirts look for their second straight.
The Canadiens head into The Big Apple coming off a loss but still sit above the .500 mark through their first 11 contests and sport an impressive 3-1 record on the road. However, they’re entering hostile territory here as they square off against their Original Six rivals who after spending their first nine- yes nine games of the season on the road play in their home opener. Montreal is a Jekyll and Hyde type of team as they’ll look like Cup contenders one night only to turn around and lay an egg the next and trying to handicap them has become a huge chore as their unpredictability is the only constant. Montreal has a ton of players in the infirmary at the moment and will likely be without some key pieces for their showdown in New York. Carey Price gets the nod for the Habs as he goes up against Henrik Lundqvist.

The Rangers have been sloppy to start the season but you have to give them some credit as while they sit three games under .500 with a 3-6 mark they did spend the first few weeks on the road and didn’t have the luxury of playing in front of their home crowd. Tonight things change as they play in their home opener against one of their original rivals and you can be sure that Alain Vigneault will have his boys geared up and ready to go. New York is a bit depleted from last year’s roster and they haven’t looked the same so far but I fully expect them to show up in this spot and based on their record they’re getting a nice at home. I like the Rangers here.
