At 13-3-2 the St. Louis Blues are having a great start to the year. The Blues are getting performances from all their key players and then they're getting them from guys like Alexander Steen who scored his 17th goal of the season on Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Steen has been a revelation for a Blues club that just finds ways to win night after night under Ken Hitchcock. While it's understandable that Steen's production will taper off at some point there's no reason to expect St. Louis to do that as a team. The Blues plays such a great team game and it makes things very difficult on the opponent to generate offense on a consistent basis. The Blues allowed just 20 shots on goal on Saturday night and that's par for the course for this club found a way to snap a 2-2 tie in the third period on their way to a 4-2 win. The biggest key for them on Sunday will be limiting power play chances for the Washington Capitals who are lethal with the man advantage. It's no surprise that a team that can throw out players like Aex Ovechkin, Mike Green, and Nicklas Backstrom would have a dominant power play but this team is so good with the extra skater on that it really changes the game on a nightly basis. Washington is coming off a 4-3 shootout victory on Friday night in Detroit against the Red Wings, their sixth victory in their last eight games. After a slow start to the season the Capitals are finally playing consistent hockey under Adam Oates. With a team like the St. Louis Blues coming to town on Sunday this is a huge test for a hockey team that has aspiritations of asserting themselves in the post season for the first time in a long time. Finding a way to defeat a team like the Blues would be a great confidene boost for a Capitals club that just hasn't had what it takes in April and May over the years. This should be a playoff like game on Sunday so we'll see who comes out on top.
