The New Jersey Devils and the Nashville Predators meet in NHL action from Bridgestone Arena on Friday night.

The New Jersey Devils will look to bounce back from a 3-2 loss in a shootout to the Minnesota Wild in a shootout last time out. Jesper Bratt leads the Devils in scoring with 13 points while Nico Hischier, Dawson Mercer and Pavel Zacha each have 12 points with Zacha logging a team-high 8 goals while Hischier’s got a team-high 10 assists. Jonathan Bernier’s got a 4-2-1 record with a 2.48 GAA and a .916 save percentage in goal for the Devils while Mackenzie Blackwood is 3-1-2 with a 2.84 GAA and a .922 save percentage this season.

The Nashville Predators will look to rebound from a 5-2 loss to Vegas last time out. Matt Duchene has a team-high 20 points with a team-high 12 goals while Mikael Granlund has 19 points with a team-high 15 assists. Roman Josi’s got 18 points with 6 goals and 12 apples while Ryan Johansen’s got 14 points with 6 goals and 8 assists. Juuse Saros has seen the bulk of the action in goal for Nashville, going 8-7-1 with a 2.53 GAA and a .917 save percentage this season.

New Jersey is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 games against the Western Conference while the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games when their opponent allowed 5 or more goals in the last game. Nashville is 6-1 in their last  games after allowing five goals or more in the previous game and 9-4 in their last 13 games overall while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 home games.

I’m not running to the window to bet this game. However, I get the case tp be made here for the over as the goaltending’s started to look shaky on both sides once again while the offense is still showing up and finding the back of the net. This just feels like a 4-3 or 5-4 game whichever way you slice it, coming in well over the number in the process.
