Two teams heading in opposite directions meet up in Vancouver on Saturday night as the surging Flames take on the struggling Canucks.
Calgary came into the season knowing they were a team transition and it would take a miracle for them to make the playoffs and while that miracle won’t be answered they have played much better than a lot of people expected them to. The Flames head into Saturday night’s action sitting in second to last in the Western Conference and fourth from the bottom in the league standings but have won their last two contests and are closing in on the Canucks who have dropped three straight and are quickly falling out of playoff contention. Calgary would love to continue Vancouver’s losing ways and after the way things went down between these two teams earlier in the season we can expect a ton of fireworks once again.

The Canucks are in a state of disbelief at the moment as they have dropped nine of their last 10 contests and are falling out of the postseason race in a hurry. Vancouver’s on ice performance has reflected the circus off the ice as the trade speculation surrounding Ryan Kesler and the eventual move of Roberto Luongo has many questioning whether the team is in good hands with their current management group. The Canucks have looked awful at times during their rocky slide of late and while they still have a playoff type roster on paper they haven’t been playing like it in 2014 and it might come back to haunt them. However, I think the Canucks finally shake things off as I think they’ll be looking for retribution from the last time these teams met and at home I think they secure the two points.
