The Ducks look to wrap up their series with the Kings on Wednesday after winning the last three of the series to take a 3-2 lead.
The Anaheim Ducks have fought back from being 2-0 down and heading to the road and after three solid outings find themselves up 3-2 in the series with a chance to send the Kings home with a victory on Wednesday night. The Ducks had the best record in the Western Conference in the regular season but were criticized heavily heading into the playoffs as being a one dimensional team with a goaltending dilemma that could distract the team to the point of destruction. However, the Ducks have had some brilliant efforts from the likes of Nick Bonino and Devante Smith-Pelley who has notched five goals in these playoffs and the Ducks are now just a win away from advancing to the Western Conference finals. The Ducks dropped the first two games on home ice but have turned to rookie John Gibson who has been sensational in the last two outings for Anaheim and it looks as though the youngster will be given the green light the rest of the way as he looks to remain undefeated in his playoff career.

The Kings are in desperation mode once again as they face elimination for the fifth time in these playoffs but if there is any team that knows how to get it done when their backs are against the wall it is the Kings. Los Angeles trailed by a 3-0 mark against the Sharks in the opening round but clawed their way back to even terms and ultimately wrapped up the series in the seventh game so you can’t question their resilience and they’ll need it once again here if they’re going to stay alive. The difference here is that Jonathan Quick’s performance has gone in the opposite direction as he started the series very hot but has since cooled off and has been mediocre in the last three games and as such the Kings have dropped three straight and face elimination. I am not quite ready to give up hope on this Kings team as they have the talent to win the Cup and while the Ducks are a strong squad also I don’t think they have the depth that LA does and I think that’s the difference here and LA evens things up and forces a seventh game.
