The Oilers look for their second win in as many tries on Wednesday night when they host the Washington Capitals in Edmonton.

The Capitals look to remain undefeated in regulation with a win on the road in Edmonton on Wednesday night and if they do so they can jump ahead of the New York Islanders for top spot in the Metropolitan division. Washington has been up and down over the last couple of seasons but they are a far cry away from their power house days from the late 2000's and a lot of that has to do with the constant coaching changes and the seemingly fast fall off of Alex Ovechkin. The Russian sniper was the best player in the game not too long ago but now the constant debate of whether it is Ovie or Crosby as to who is the world's best there is no doubt it is the Penguins forward and in fact Ovechkin has slipped out of the top five in most people's opinion. However, all of that would become obsolete if it meant the Caps could climb through the Eastern Conference playoffs and land in the Cup finals and with the roster they have this year and the openness of the East this season this could be the year that the Caps push through.
Edmonton netted their first win of the season earlier this week but are still among a handful of teams at the bottom of the league standings, a place they have grown so accustomed to over the years. The Oilers continue to be the centre of trade rumors as many prognosticators have the team in a state of immediate crisis and until they move one of their talented forwards they'll never have the ability to develop their blue line. Ben Scrivens has been the lone bright spot for this Oilers team as he has been brilliant in the Edmonton goal despite the inflated goals against average and for a guy who has been longing the opportunity to be a number one netminder in the NHL this is his perfect opportunity. Unfortunately for Scrivens, he just isn't getting the support in front of him and against a Capitals team this looks like a spot they simply can't win. I like the Caps on the road and I think they get it done with ease.
