The Detroit Red Wings and the Tampa Bay Lightning meet in NHL action from the Amalie Arena on Wednesday.
The Detroit Red Wings will look to bounce back after a 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers in their last matchup. Dylan Larkin leads the Red Wings in scoring with 9 points coming on 4 goals and 5 assists with a team-high 35 shots on goal while Tyler Bertuzzi has 7 points with a team-high 5 goals. Bobby Ryam, Anthony Mantha and Filip Hronek each have 6 points with Ryan logging 4 goals while Mantha has 3 goals and 3 assists and Hronek has 6 assists to lead the Wings in that department. In goal, Thomas Greiss has had no luck, failing to record a win in 7 games played despite having an average 3.03 GAA this season while Jonathan Bernier has a 3.54 GAA but has accounted for both of Detroit’s wins in the crease this season.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to keep the puck rolling after a 5-2 win over Nashville last time out. Steven Stamkos has a team-high 9 points coming on 4 goals and 5 assists while Victor Hedman and Brayden Point each have 8 points with Hedman logging 6 assists while Point has 3 goals and 5 helpers this season. Anthony Cirelli has 7 points with 6 assists and Yanni Gourde, Alex Killorn and Ondrej Palat all have 5 points so far for Tampa this season. Andrei Vasilevskiy continues to be the workhorse in goal for the Bolts, going 5-2 with a 2.14 GAA so far this season.
Detroit is 10-43 in their last 53 road games and 12-49 in their last 61 games overall while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games as an underdog. Tampa Bay is 65-28 in their last 93 home games and 49-19 in their last 68 games overall while the over is 5-1-2 in their last 8 games following a win. The favorite is 21-5 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams.
I get the Lightning being favored here and heavily at that as well, but the thing is as bad as the Red Wings have been, they’ve been in games in some spots and the last 5 meetings against Tampa Bay have all been decided by a single goal. It’s a lean, but getting the +1.5 at plus money sounds good to me for a small play so give me Detroit +1.5 in this one.
