The Ottawa Senators and the Winnipeg Jets meet in NHL action from Bell MTS Place on Thursday night.
The Ottawa Senators could really use a win after another loss in the form of a 3-2 loss to Edmotnon last time out. Brady Tkachuk leads the Sens with 8 points coming on 3 goals and 5 assists while Thomas Chabot and Josh Norris are right behind with 7 points each, including Chabot’s 3 goals and 4 helpers and Norris’ 5 assists and a pair of goals. Nikita Zaitsev has 6 assists while Connor Brown, Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle each have 6 points as well with Stutzle logging 4 goals, Brown logging 4 assists and Batherson chipping in 5 assists. Matt Murray’s seen the bulk of the action in goal for Ottawa, going 2-7 with a 3.63 GAA on the year.
The Winnipeg Jets will look to pick up a win after falling to Calgary in their last game by a final count of 3-2. Mark Schiefele has a team-high 15 points with 5 goals and 10 assists while Nkolaj Ehlers has 14 points with a team-high 8 goals and 6 assists. Andrew Copp and Kyle Connor each have 12 points with Copp logging 4 goals and 8 assists and Connor putting 7 goals in his pocket. Blake Wheeler has 11 points with 8 assists and Neal Pionk has 9 assists while Adam Lowry has 4 goals and 5 assists for his 9 points on the year. Connor Hellebuyck’s started the majority of Winnipeg’s games, going 5-3 with a 2.55 GAA this season.
Ottawa is 13-39 in their last 52 games overall and 12-47 in their last 59 road games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. Winnipeg is 8-1 in their last 9 games as a favorite and 11-5 in their last 16 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall Ottawa is 0-5 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I \’m trying to make a case for Ottawa and the plus money but I’m simply coming up with nothing. The Senators are a joke of a hockey team early on this season and there’s just nothing else that can be said to back them up. Winnipeg’s been one of the better teams in the NHL early on, especially on the puck line, so I’ll side with the Jets on the puck line to get this hefty money line price down.
