The Ottawa Senators and the Winnipeg Jets meet in NHL action from the Bell MTS Place on Saturday afternoon.
The Ottawa Senators will try to bounce back after ending up on the wrong end of a 5-1 beating at the hands of Winnipeg last time out. Brady Tkachuk and Josh Norris each have 8 points with 3 goals and 5 assists while Thomas Chabot has 7 points with 3 goals and 4 helpers. Five more Senators each have 6 points with Tom Stutzle logging 4 goals while Austin Watson has 3 goals and 3 helpers. Connor Brown has 2 goals and 4 assists and Drake Batherson has 5 assists while Nikita Zaitsev has 6 assists for Ottawa this season. Matt Murray’s started the majority of Ottawa’s games in goal, picking up just 2 wins in 12 appearances with a 3.69 GAA while Marcus Hogberg has a 4.88 GAA in 7 winless appearances this season.
The Winnipeg Jets will look to add another win to the column at Ottawa’s expense following their win over the Senators last time out. Mark Scheifele leads the Jets with 17 points including a team-high 12 assists while Nikolaj Ehlers has 16 points with 9 goals and 7 assists and Kyle Connor has 13 points with 7 goals and 6 assists. Andrew Copp and Blake Wheeler each have 12 points coming on 4 goals and 8 assists and Neal Pionk has 10 points with 9 assists this season. Connor Hellebuyck’s started the majority of Winnipeg’s games in goal, logging 6 wins with a 2.39 GAA this season.
Ottawa is 12-48 in their last 60 road games and 13-40 in their last 53 games overall while the under is 5-0-1 in their last 6 games overall. Winnipeg is 12-5 in their last 17 home games and 19-7 in their last 26 games as a favorite while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games overall. Ottawa is 0-6 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Winnipeg.
I am running out of excuses to make for Ottawa at this point as to why the Sens can’t get their act together. I mean you bring in Matt Murray to save the goaltending woes and they might’ve actually gotten worse as the Sens can’t keep the puck out of the net right now. Winnipeg’s a league 11-2 on the puck line this year and I look for Winnipeg to add to those numbers with a win by at least a couple of goals here. Give me Winnipeg -1.5 as my premium pick for this game.
