The Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers meet in NHL action from Madison Square Garden on Friday night.
The Boston Bruins will look to rebound after a 7-2 loss to the New York Islanders last time out. Brad Marchand leads the Bruins in scoring with 20 points coming on 9 goals and 11 assists while Patrice Bergeron is right behind with 19 points coming on 7 goals and a team-high 12 assists. David Pastrnak and Nick Ritchie each have 14 points with Pastrnak logging 9 goals with 5 assists and Ritchie having 7 goals and 7 assists. Charlie McAvoy has 13 points with 11 assists and David Krejci has 10 points all coming on assists as well on the year. Tuukka Rask has a 7-3 record with 2.56 GAA while Jaroslav Halak has a 4-3 record with a shutout and a 2.42 GAA on the year.
The New York Rangers will be out to bounce back from a 4-3 loss to Philadelphia last time out. Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers in scoring with 18 points coming on 5 goals with 13 assists while Pavel Buchnevich each have 12 points with 8 assists and 4 goals. Dylan Strome’s got 10 points with 5 goals and 5 assists and Chris Kreider’s chipped in 9 points with 8 goals. Adam Fox also has 8 points with 7 assists for the Rangers on the year. Igor Shesterkin’s managed a 2.40 GAA and 4 wins this season while Alexandar Georgiev has a pair of wins with a 2.95 GAA on the year.
Boston is 5-1 in their last 6 road games and 9-3 in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 19-7-1 in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record. New York is 6-15 in their last 21 games overall and 0-4 in their last 4 home games while the under is 10-1 in their last 11 games on 1 days’ rest. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
It’s hard to get a feel for value here as both sides have had issues with Boston coming in on a back-to-back while the Rangers continue to have issues finding consistency throughout the lineup. I am going to lean towards the under as a lot of the matchups between the Bruins and Rangers have been lower-scoring and I see this being no different. I’ll back the under in this one.
