The Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins meet in NHL action from PPG Paints Arena on Thursday night.

The Philadelphia Flyers will be itching to build off of their 3-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes in their last outing. Sean Couturier leads the Flyers with 11 points and 7 assists while Claude Giroux has 10 points with 5 goals and 5 assists. Travis Konecny and Cam Atkinson each have 7 points with Atkinson leading the Flyers with 6 goals and Konecny logging 3 goals and 4 apples. Carter Hart’s made the majority of the starts between the pipes for the Flyers, going 3-2-1 with a 2.33 GAA and a .928 save percentage while Martin Jones is 2-0 with a 2.01 GAA and a .941 save percentage this season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to snap a three-game losing streak after a 4-2 loss at the hands of the New Jersey Devils in their last game. Danton Heinen leads the Pens with 6 points including a team-high 4 goals while Drew Connor, Evan Rodrigues and Brock McGinn all have 5 points with O’Connor and Rodrigues logging 3 goals apiece while McGinn has 3 assists. Kris Letang and Kasperi Kapanen each have a team-high 4 assists while Marcus Pettersson leads Pittsburgh with a +7 plus/minus rating this season. Tristan Jarry has gone 3-2-1 with a 2.15 GAA and a .926 save percentage while Casey DeSmith is 0-1-1 with a 4.47 GAA and an .878 save percentage this season.

Philadelphia is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall and 5-17 in their last 22 games following a win while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games as a road underdog. 42-20 in their last 62 home games and 1-5 in their last 6 games as a favorite while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games as a home favorite.

I get the case that could be made both ways as this is a rivalry and these two teams don’t like each other. However, I’m not overly sold on the goaltending for Philadelphia and the goaltending for Pittsburgh is shaky at times as well. And despite all of the injuries, these are two of the deeper teams in the league from a talent perspective so I think when all is said and done we finish over the total in this game.
