The Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins meet in NHL action from PPG Paints Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Philadelphia Flyers will look to build on a 4-3 win over the Penguins in their last outing. James van Riemsdyk leads the Flyers in scoring with 26 points including 10 goals and 16 assists while Joel Farabee has 19 points with 10 goals and 9 assists but Farabee will be out of action indefinitely on the COVID protocol list. Kevin Hayes has 16 points with 7 goals and 9 assists while Jakub Voracek’s got 14 points with 11 assists. Sean Couturier has 13 points as well for the Flyers up to this point in the year. Carter Hart and Brian Elliott have each logged 6 wins for the Flyers this season, with Hart making 13 appearances with a shutout and a 3.49 GAA while Elliott’s made 9 appearances with a pair of shutouts and a 2.15 GAA on the year.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will look to bounce back from their frustrating loss to the Flyers last time out. Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby each hace 19 points coming on 7 goals and 12 assists while Bryan Rust has 17 points with 7 goals of his own. Kris Letang has 16 points with 5 goals and 11 apples and Evgeni Malkin’s got 14 points with 4 goals and 10 assists. Kasperi Kapanen and Teddy Blueger each have 8 assists as well for the Pens up to this point in the year. Tristan Jarry continues to see the bulk of the action in goal for Pittsburgh, going 8-8 with a 3.13 GAA this season.
Philadelphia is 6-2 in their last 8 road games and 4-1 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record. Pittsburgh is 153-71 in their last 224 home games and 2-7 in their last 9 games as an underdog while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. The over is 18-7-4 in the last 29 meetings between these two teams.
Once again, a rivalry in every sense of the word as these two teams just do not like each other and that’s not going to change here. With that said, Philadelphia’s taken three of the four meetings between the two already this season and I’m back on the Penguins fade train as I’m off of this team again even with Sidney Crosby back in the lineup. The Pens have been good at home, but Philly’s favored for a reason. I’ll lay it and play it with the Flyers here.
