The Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators meet in NHL action from the Canadian Tire Centre on Wednesday night.
The Vancouver Canucks will look to build on their 3-2 win over the Senators in their last matchup. Brock Boeser leads the Canucks in scoring with 29 points including a team-high 14 goals with 15 assists while J.T. Miller has 27 points with 19 assists and Quinn Hughes has 25 points with a team-high 23 assists this season. As a team, Vancouver is averaging 2.7 goals per game on 30.6 shots per game with a 20.4% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.2 goals per game on 33.8 shots per game against with an 80.9% kill rate on the PK this season.
The Ottawa Senators will look to bounce back from their loss to the Canucks in their last matchup. Brady Tkachuk leads the Senators in scoring with 22 points with a team-high 11 goals and 11 assists while Drake Batherson has 11 goals as well as part of his 21-point tally this season. Thomas Chabot has a team-high 16 assists as well for Ottawa this season. As a team, Ottawa is averaging 2.6 goals per game with 31.8 shots per game with a 15% success rate on the power play. Defensively, the Senators are giving up a league-high 4 goals per game on 32 shots on goal against with a 74.3% kill rate on the PK this season.
Vancouver is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 4-9 in their last 13 road games while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games following a win. Ottawa is 5-2 in their last 7 road games and 19-46 in their last 65 games overall while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games as a home underdog. Vancouver is 20-8 in the last 28 meetings between these two teams.
Neither of these teams are worth backing for much of anything right now, as the Canucks can’t consistently put wins together and the one thing Ottawa does consistently is lose. With that said, we cashed on the under in the last meeting and I’m going to go to the well again here, not because I think that the goaltending is top-notch but moreso because the offenses haven’t been very good on either side which is surprising considering the young talent both teams have at their disposal. I just think this game is shaping up to be a low-scoring game again, so give me the under here.
