The Montreal Canadiens and the Winnipeg Jets meet in NHL action from Bell MTS Place on Wednesday night.

The Montreal Canadiens will look to build on their 4-2 win over the ‘Peg last time out. Tyler Toffoli leads Montreal in scoring with 26 points including a team-high 17 goals while Jeff Petry has 25 points with 11 goals and 14 assists and Jonathan Drouin has 19 points with a team-high 17 assists this season. As a team, Montreal is averaging 3.2 goals per game on 33 shots per game with a 21.3% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.6 goals per game on 29 shots per game against with a 77.6% kill rate on the PK this season.

The Winnipeg Jets will look to bounce back from their loss to Montreal last time out. Mark Scheifele leads the Jets in scoring with 37 points including 12 goals and a team-high 25 assists while Nikolaj Ehlers and Kyle Connor each have a team-high 14 goals and double-digit assists totals for Winnipeg this season. As a team, Winnipeg is averaging 3.4 goals per game on 29.4 shots per game with a 25% conversion rate on the power play while allowing 2.9 goals per game on 31.7 shots per game against with a 77.6% kill rate on the PK this season.

Montreal is 4-9 in their last 13 games overall and 2-7 in their last 9 road games while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 road games. Winnipeg is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a home underdog and 7-3 in their last 10 games as an underdog while the over is 7-0 in their last 7 games overall. The over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 7-2 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams in Winnipeg.

I think a case could be made for either side here as Montreal’s starting to look like they’re turning the corner, but betting against Winnipeg at home has not been a profitable tactic in recent years. Instead, I’m going to side with the under as both teams have ratcheted up the defensive pressure as of late and are running tight ships while not giving up much on that end of the ice. I could easily see a 3-2 or even 2-1 game here, so give me the under.
