The Vegas Golden Knights and the St. Louis Blues meet in NHL action from the Enterprise Center on Wednesday night.
The Vegas Golden Knights will be out to build on a 6-1 beating of the Blues in their last matchup. Mark Stone leads the Golden Knights in scoring with 41 points including a team-high 29 assists while Max Pacioretty has a team-high 18 goals with a team-leading 137 shots on goal this season. Shea Theodore has 29 points with 23 assists and William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault each have 10 goals and 17 assists for their 27 points this season. As a team, Vegas is averaging 3.1 goals on 31.1 shots with a 17.9% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.3 goals on 27.6 shots with an 84.5% success rate on the PK this season.
The St. Louis Blues will look for a win that keeps avoiding them after yet another loss to Vegas last time out. David Perron leads the Blues in scoring with 37 poitns including team-highs of 13 goals and 24 assists while Ryan O’Reilly has 34 points with 13 goals and 21 assists. Brayden Schenn and Jordan Kyrou each have double-digit assists and double-digit goals this season while Torey Krug has 18 assists. As a team, St. Louis is averaging 2.7 goals on 29.5 shots with an 18.2% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.1 goals on 29.4 shots with a 75% success rate on the PK this season.
Vegas is 9-2 in their last 11 games as a road favorite and 48-22 in their last 70 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. St. Louis is 7-19 in their last 26 home games and 2-12 in their last 14 games overall while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as a home underdog. The favorite is 12-2 in the last 14 meetings between these two teams.
I’m trying to get myself to make a case for St. Louis as a home dog, but realistically I can’t. The Blues are just not playing well right now and it’s at a point where you simply have to fade the Blues until they show signs of life and we’re not getting any younger here. The season’s end is fast approaching and it looks more and more like the Blues will be on the outside looking in if they keep this up. Look for Vegas to add to St. Louis’ misery with another win here.
