The Vegas Golden Knights host the Arizona Coyotes in NHL action from the T-Mobile Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Arizona Coyotes will look to rebound from a 7-4 los to Vegas in their last matchup. Phil Kessel leads the Coyotes in scoring with 32 points including a team-high 15 goals and 17 assists while Conor Garland has 31 points with a team-high 21 assists this season. Clayton Keller, Jakob Chychrun and Christian Dvorak all have 12 goals while Nick Schmaltz has 26 points with 10 goals and 16 assists. As a team, Arizona is averaging 2.7 goals per game on 26.5 shots with a 19.6% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.1 goals on 31.5 shots with an 82% success rate on the PK this season.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to build on their win over the Coyotes on Sunday. Mark Stone leads Vegas in scoring with 42 points including a team-high 30 assists while Max Pacioretty has 36 points with a team-high 19 goals, 17 assists and 146 shots on goal. Shea Theodore has 30 points with 24 assists while William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault and Alex Tuch all have double-digit goal and assist tallies this season. As a team, Vegas is averaging 3.3 goals on 31.8 shots with a 17.5% conversion rate on the power play while allowing 2.3 goals on 27.9 shots against with an 84.5% success rate on the penalty kill this season.
Arizona is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall and 12-27 in their last 39 road games while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games as an underdog. Vegas is 37-16 in their last 53 home games and 49-23 in their last 72 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Sunday games. The over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
It’s strange for two teams that you’d think would pride themselves on defensive prowess, four of the five meetings this season have gone over the number including the last meeting that saw 11 goals. I’m not sure we hit 11 here, but 6 is more than doable considering we had 6 and 7 twice in three meetings to start the year. I’ll take the over once again in this one.
