The Ottawa Senators and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday night.

The Ottawa Senators will look to build on a 4-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens in their last matchup. Thomas Chabot leads the Senators in scoring with 28 points including a team-high 24 assists while Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson all have 28 points as well, with Tkachuk logging 14 goals, 14 assists and a team-high 182 shots on goal while Batherson has a team-high 15 goals with 13 assists. Josh Norris has 27 points with 12 goals and 15 assists while Connor Brown has 25 points with 14 goals. Tim Stutzle also has 23 points with 16 assists as well this season. As a team, Ottawa is averaging 2.6 goals on 31.1 shots with a 15.9% conversion rate on the power play while allowing 3.7 goals on 32.7 shots with a 76.1% success rate killing off penalties this season.

The Calgary Flames will be out to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens in their last matchup. Elias Lindholm leads the Flames in scoring with 38 points including 12 goals and a team-high 26 assists while Johnny Gaudreau has a team-high 15 goals and 17 assists this season. Matthew Tkachuk has 30 points with 20 assists while Mikael Backlund and Sean Monahan each have double-digit assist totals this season. As a team, Calgary is averaging 2.7 goals on 29.9 shots with a 20.3% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.9 goals on 29.2 shots with an 80.9% kill rate on the PK this season.

Ottawa is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record and 24-54 in their last 78 games overall while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games following a win. Calgary is 4-9 in their last 13 games overall and 2-5 in their last 7 home games while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite. Ottawa is 4-11 in the last 15 meetings between these two teams in Calgary.

I get the case that could be made both ways, as the Flames aren’t a -200+ team, but they are the better team here. I think the difference for me here is just that Ottawa has been so hard to back on the road, and say what you want about the Flames being top heavy with their production, but I just think that the Flames end up getting the job done here by a couple of goals so give me Calgary -1.5 on the puck line here.
