The Colorado Avalanche and the Vegas Golden Knights meet in game four of their best of seven playoff series in NHL action from the T-Mobile Arena on Sunday.
The Colorado Avalanche will try to push the Golden Knights to the brink of elimination once again after Vegas got on the board in the series with a 3-2 win over Colorado on Friday.
The game went scoreless through the opening 20 minutes but William Karlsson would get the Golden Knights on the board first 4:38 into the second period. Carl Soderberg would respond for the Avs just 1:29 later and the 1-1 tie would hold up going into the 3rd period. Mikko Rantanen gave Colorado the lead on the power play just over six minutes into the 3rd, but Jonathan Marchessault and Max Pacioretty would score :35 apart to tie the game and give Vegas the lead with four and a half minutes to go, a lead that Vegas wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the way.
Marc-Andre Fleury got the win in goal for Vegas after stopping 18 of 20 shots faced in the win while Philipp Grubauer took the loss for the Avalanche after giving up all 3 goals on 43 shots faced in the defeat.
Colorado is 5-1 in their last 6 road games and 38-13 in their last 51 games overall while the under is 8-3-1 in their last 12 playoff games as an underdog. Vegas is 68-31 in their last 99 games overall and 39-14 in their last 53 home games while the under is 11-3-1 in their last 15 playoff games as a favorite. The under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams and 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Vegas.
I think a case could be made for both sides here and it’s hard to really give up an even money price with an Avs team that you don’t get that kind of price with often. However, I think the Golden Knights have some confidence back after their win over the Avalanche to get on the board in the series and know how important it is to make this a best of three series and not go to Colorado with their season on the line with how well the Avs play at home this season. I think the gravity of the situation isn’t lost on Vegas here, so give me the Golden Knights and the cheap price to tie up the series.
