Avalanche Preview

The Colorado Avalanche are 40-20-5 this year after they defeated Minnesota in overtime by a score of 2-1 in their last game. Colorado allowed the tying goal in the second period, but they were able to play great defense and get the overtime win. The Avalanche were out shot by a total of 40-30 and went 1-4 on the power play in the game. Colorado defeated Detroit by a score of 7-2 and Chicago by a score of 5-0 in the two games prior to Minnesota. The Avalanche are scoring 3.68 goals per game and they are allowing 3.02 goals against per game, while going 24.5% on the power play and 80.8% on the penalty kill. Nathan MacKinnon has led Colorado with 40 goals, 71 assists, and 316 shots on goal. The projected starting goalie for Colorado is Alexandar Georgiev, who is 33-15-3 this year with a 2.85 goals against average and a .902 save percentage.

Flames Preview

The Calgary Flames are 31-28-5 this season after they lost to Carolina by a score of 7-2 in their last game. Calgary allowed the first four goals in the game and could never get back into the game. The Flames were out shot by a total of 40-20 and went 0-3 on the power play in the game. Calgary lost to Florida by a score of 5-1 in the game prior to Carolina, but did beat Tampa Bay before that. Calgary Flames Team Facts

  • The Flames have covered the puck line in 10 of their last 11 games as underdogs against Central Division opponents.
  • The Flames have won the second period in eight of their last nine games as underdogs against Western Conference opponents.
  • The ‘Over 2.5 Goals Period 1′ market has hit in three of the Flames’ last four games as home underdogs.

Colorado Avalanche Team Facts

  • The Avalanche have won each of their last seven games against Pacific Division opponents.
  • The Avalanche have covered the puck line in each of their last six night games following an overtime win.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 1’ market has hit in five of the Avalanche’s last six games after coming off overtime.
  • The Avalanche have won the second period in each of their last eight games as favorites following an overtime win.

Avalanche vs Flames Betting Prediction

Calgary comes into this game after losing three of their last four games and this will be their first game back at home after a three game road trip. The Flames were out scored 12-3 by Carolina and Florida, and will face another high scoring team here. Colorado is scoring 3.68 goals per game, but they are only 14-14-5 on the road. The Avalanche have won three games in a row and have only allowed three totals goals in that span. Colorado is obviously the better team in this matchup, but they haven’t been great on the road. I think we are getting a great price with the Flames at home and I think it is worth a shot.
