In this article we will formulate a Canucks vs Bruins prediction for this NHL game on Saturday, January 3rd at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Vancouver Canucks Betting Preview

The Vancouver Canucks are playing a late game on Friday night against Seattle, which is not included in this article. The Canucks are 16-20-3 this season after they lost to Philadelphia by a score of 6-3 in their last game. Vancouver led 1-0 in the first period, but they allowed five of the next six goals and couldn’t recover for the loss. The Canucks out shot Philadelphia by a total of 35-33, won 43.9% of the face-offs, and went 0-4 on the power play in the game. Vancouver got goals from Kampf, O’Connor, and Willander, while Demko stopped 27 out of 31 shots, which was an .871 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Vancouver defeated the Kraken by a score of 3-2, but lost to the Sharks by a score of 6-3 before that. The Canucks have lost three of their last four games and they are currently last in the Pacific standings with 35 points. Vancouver has scored 2.77 goals per game and they have allowed 3.49 goals against per game, while also going 19.4% on the power play and 75.2% on the penalty kill this season. Elias Pettersson has led Vancouver with nine goals and 14 assists, while Filip Hronek has added two goals and 20 assists. The projected starting goalie for Vancouver is Kevin Lankinen, who is 6-10-3 with a 3.41 goals against average and an .885 save percentage this season.

Boston Bruins Betting Preview

The Boston Bruins are 21-18-2 this year after they defeated Edmonton by a score of 6-2 in their last game. Boston had their lead cut to 2-1 in the first period, but they scored four of the last five goals to pull away with the win. The Bruins were out shot by a total of 36-29, won 49.2% of the face-offs, and went 1-3 on the power play in the game. Boston got goals from Lindholm, Mittelstadt, Pastrnak (2), Aspirot, and Lindholm, while Swayman stopped 34 out of 36 shots, which was a .944 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Boston lost to the Flames by a score of 2-1 and the Sabres by a score of 4-1. The Bruins have lost six of their last seven games and they are currently second to last in the Atlantic standings with 44 points. Boston has scored 3.12 goals per game and they have allowed 3.24 goals against per game, while also going 24.8% on the power play and 80.3% on the penalty kill this season. David Pastrnak has led Boston with 17 goals and 27 assists, while Morgan Geekie has added 25 goals and 16 assists. The projected starting goalie for Boston is Jeremy Swayman, who is 15-10-2 with a 2.84 goals against average and a .904 save percentage this year.

Canucks vs Bruins Prediction

Boston was able to snap their long losing streak with a nice win over Edmonton last time out and they will look to build some momentum here. The Bruins are 9-10-1 on the road this year, while the Canucks are 4-12-2 at home. Vancouver has lost two of their last three games and they have allowed 17 goals in their last four. I know Boston has scored two goals or fewer in four of their last five, but Vancouver is really struggling at home and they are on a back to back. Take the Bruins here.
