In this article we will formulate a Canucks vs Golden Knights prediction for this NHL game on Wednesday, April 16th at Rogers Place in Vancouver, British Columbia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Preview

The Vegas Golden Knights are 49-22-10 this year after they lost to Calgary in a shootout by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday night. Vegas led 3-1 after the first period, but they needed a tying goal in the third, before losing in the shootout. The Golden Knights outshot Calgary by a total of 42-28, won 54.1% of the face-offs, and went 0-2 on the power play in the game. Vegas got goals from Dorofeyev, Hertl, Roy, and Saad, while Samsonov stopped 24 out of 28 shots in the game.

Prior to that loss, the Golden Knights defeated the Predators by a score of 5-3 and the Kraken by a score of 2-1. Vegas has won four of their last six games and they are currently first in the Pacific standings with 108 points. Vegas has scored 3.33 goals per game and they have allowed 2.61 goals against per game, while also going 29.1% on the power play and 76.5% on the penalty kill this season. Jack Eichel has led Vegas with 27 goals, 66 assists, and 231 shots on goal, while Mark Stone has added 19 goals, 48 assists, and 131 shots on goal. Adin Hill is 32-13-5 with a 2.47 goals against average and a .906 save percentage this season.

Vancouver Canucks Betting Preview

The Vancouver Canucks are 38-29-14 this season after they defeated San Jose by a score of 2-1 in overtime. Vancouver trailed 1-0 after the second period, but they were able to tie the game in the third and get the win late in overtime. The Canucks outshot San Jose by a total of 37-16, won 46.8% of the face-offs, and went 0-5 on the power play in the game. Vancouver got goals from DeBrusk and Karlsson, while Tolopilo stopped 15 out of 16 shots in the win.

Prior to that game, the Canucks lost to the Wild by a score of 3-2, but did beat the Avalanche by a score of 4-1 before that. Vancouver has won three of their last four games and they are currently fifth in the Pacific standings with 90 points. Vancouver has scored 2.86 goals per game and they have allowed 3.05 goals against per game, while also going 22.6% on the power play and 82.4% on the penalty kill this season. Quinn Hughes has led Vancouver with 16 goals, 60 assists, and 187 shots on goal, while Brock Boeser has added 25 goals, 25 assists, and 144 shots on goal. Kevin Lankinen is 25-15-10 with a 2.64 goals against average and a .901 save percentage this season.

Why the Canucks will beat the Golden Knights

  • The Canucks have won seven of their last eight games at Rogers Arena after coming off overtime.
  • The Golden Knights have lost each of their last six games as underdogs.
  • The Canucks have covered the puck line in each of their last six night games following a win.
  • The Golden Knights have failed to cover the puck line in six of their last seven games against Pacific Division opponents.
  • The favorites have won the third period in each of the Canucks’ last four games at Rogers Arena.

Total Goals Facts

  • Eight of the Canucks’ last nine games at Rogers Arena following a win have gone UNDER the total goals line.
  • Each of the Golden Knights’ last four games after coming off overtime have gone UNDER the total goals line.
  • Three of the last four games between teams from the same division have gone UNDER the total goals line.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 3′ market has hit in 16 of the Canucks’ last 17 games following a home win.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 1′ market has hit in each of the Golden Knights’ last four games at Rogers Arena.

Vancouver Canucks Player Prop Facts

  • Jake DeBrusk has scored a goal in each of the Canucks’ last four games.
  • Elias Pettersson has recorded at least one point in each of his last six appearances in night games.
  • Elias Pettersson has recorded at least one assist in each of his last five appearances in night games.

Vegas Golden Knights Player Prop Facts

  • Tomas Hertl has scored a goal in three of his last four appearances at Rogers Arena.
  • Tomas Hertl has recorded at least one point in each of his last seven road appearances against Western Conference opponents.
  • Alex Pietrangelo has recorded at least one assist in each of his last five road appearances against the Canucks after playing less than 20 minutes in the Golden Knights’ last game.

Canucks vs Golden Knights Prediction

Both of these teams come into this matchup with nothing to play for, so it will be interesting to see who gives more effort. The Canucks are 17-15-8 at home this year, while the Golden Knights are 20-13-7 on the road. Vegas is the one seed in the Pacific Division this year and they are getting ready for the postseason, while also coming off of a shootout loss on Tuesday night. Vancouver has won three of their last four games and I think their desire to finish the season with a win will be greater than Vegas’ desire in a back to back before the playoffs. Take the Canucks here.
