The Arizona Coyotes and the Colorado Avalanche meet in NHL action from the Ball Arena on Tuesday night.
The Arizona Coyotes will look to bounce back from a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres in their last game. Clayton Keller leads the Coyotes with 35 points, logging a team-high 16 goals and 19 assists while Shayne Gostisbehere has 20 assists as part of his 28 points this season. Phil Kessel also has 28 points with a team-high 23 assists while Lawson Crouse and Travis Boyd have 10 goals apiece on the year. Karel Vejmelka’s seen the majority of the action in goal for Arizona, going 6-17-1 with a 3.39 GAA and a .902 save percentage while Scott Wedgewood is 4-9-2 with a 3.32 GAA and an .899 save percentage so far this season.
The Colorado Avalanche will look to keep the momentum going after a 4-1 win over Buffalo last time out to push their winning streak to double-digits. Nazem Kadri leads the Avs in scoring with 59 points including a team-high 41 assists while Gabriel Landeskog has 45 points and Cale Makar has 44 points with Landeskog logging 19 goals and 26 assists while Makar has 18 goals with 26 apples and Devon Toews has a team-best +33 plus/minus rating. Mikko Rantanen has a team-high 22 goals as well as 51 points of his own and Nathan MacKinnon has 43 points with 9 goals and 34 assists this season. Darcy Kuemper has gone 21-5-1 with a 2.58 GAA and a .915 save percentage this season in goal for Colorado.
Arizona is 12-39 in their last 51 games as an underdog and 0-4 in their last 4 Tuesday games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games when their opponent allows two goals or less in the previous game. Colorado is 46-9 in their last 55 home games and 42-11 in their last 53 games as a favorite while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400.
I get why Colorado would be favored here, as the Avs are the better team and the only team really going anywhere going forward. However these lines are ridiculous and we’re getting to a point where you’re better off just going the other way for a chance to make some serious coin in one game. With that said, I do think Colorado wins, but we’ve seen the Avalanche let lesser teams hang around, kind of how they did against Montreal just a few games ago where Colorado was nearly a -700 favorite and the -1.5 puck line provided no value unless you were on Montreal and got 2.5 times your money with a goal in your pocket. This could blow up in my face, but I’m going to take a shot with Arizona +1.5 in this one.
