In this article, we will formulate a Ducks vs Islanders prediction for this NHL game on Sunday, March 9th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Anaheim Ducks Betting Preview

The Anaheim Ducks are 27-28-7 this season after they lost to St. Louis by a score of 4-3 in their last game. Anaheim tied the game at one in the first period, but they allowed three of the next four goals in the loss. The Ducks outshot St. Louis by a total of 23-22, won 44.7% of the face-offs, and went 1-4 on the power play in the game. Anaheim got goals from Colangelo, Killorn, and Vatrano, while Dostal stopped 18 out of 21 shots in the game.

Prior to that loss, the Ducks lost to the Canucks by a score of 3-2, but did beat the Oilers by a score of 6-2 before that. Anaheim has lost three of their last four games and they are currently sixth in the Pacific standings with 61 points. Anaheim has scored 2.61 goals per game and they have allowed 3.07 goals against per game, while also going 12.0% on the power play and 73.3% on the penalty kill this season. Troy Terry has led Anaheim with 17 goals, 30 assists, and 131 shots on goal, while Frank Vatrano has added 19 goals, 19 assists, and 193 shots on goal. Lukas Dostal is 18-16-5 with a 2.88 goals against average and a .910 save percentage this season.

New York Islanders Betting Preview

The New York Islanders do play the Sharks late on Saturday night, which is not reflected in this article. New York is 28-26-7 this season after they defeated Winnipeg by a score of 3-2 in their last game. New York saw their lead cut to 3-2 in the third period, but they were able to lock down defensively to secure the win. The Islanders outshot Winnipeg by a total of 29-28, won 49.1% of the face-offs, and went 1-2 on the power play in the game. New York got goals from Nelson, Pulock, and Palmieri, while Sorokin stopped 26 out of 28 shots in the win.

Prior to that game, the Islanders lost to the Rangers by a score of 4-0 but did beat the Predators by a score of 7-4 before that. New York has won three of their last four games and they are currently sixth in the Metro standings with 63 points. New York has scored 2.72 goals per game and they have allowed 2.97 goals against per game, while also going 11.8% on the power play and 71.2% on the penalty kill this season. Anders Lee has led New York with 23 goals, 20 assists, and 171 shots on goal, while Bo Horvat has added 20 goals, 23 assists, and 175 shots on goal. Jakub Skarek is 0-1-0 with a 3.94 goals against average and an .872 save percentage this year.

Ducks vs Islanders Prediction

New York comes into their game with San Jose on Saturday night after winning three of their previous four games, but I am interested to see how the team reacts to Nelson being traded. The Islanders are 13-13-5 on the road, while the Ducks are 14-14-2 at home this year. Anaheim has lost three of their last four games and they are scoring just 2.61 goals per game this season. I don’t like how either team has played this season, but Anaheim will have the rest advantage and will be facing a below-average goalie. Take the Ducks at home.
