The Edmonton Oilers are 48-24-5 this year after they defeated Vegas by a score of 5-1 in their last game. Edmonton scored the first four goals in this game, but they allowed a goal in the third period to ruin the shutout. The Oilers out shot Vegas by a total of 25-18 and went 1-3 on the power play in the game. Edmonton defeated Calgary by a score of 4-2 and Colorado by a score of 6-2 in the two games prior to Vegas. The Oilers are scoring 3.60 goals per game and they are allowing 2.83 goals against per game, while going 26.7% on the power play and 79.4% on the penalty kill. Connor McDavid (day to day) has led Edmonton with 31 goals, 99 assists, and 258 shots on goal. The projected starting goalie for Edmonton is Calvin Pickard, who is 12-6-0 this year with a 2.38 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.

Coyotes Preview

The Arizona Coyotes are 34-40-5 this season after they defeated Vancouver in overtime by a score of 4-3 in their last game. Edmonton Oilers Team Facts

  • The home team has covered the puck line in 10 of the Oilers’ last 11 games.
  • The Oilers have won the second period in each of their last six games at Rogers Place.
  • The ‘Over 1.5 Goals Period 3′ market has hit in each of the Oilers’ last 14 games as favorites.

Arizona Coyotes Team Facts

  • The Coyotes have lost eight of their last nine night games following a road win.
  • The Coyotes have covered the puck line in each of their last four games at Rogers Place against opponents on a winning streak.
  • The Coyotes have lost the third period in each of their last four night games following a road win.

Oilers vs Coyotes Prediction

Edmonton comes into this game on a three game winning streak and they are trying to chase down the Canucks for first in the Pacific. The Oilers cannot afford to lose this game and they are at home, where they are 27-8-3 on the year. Arizona is the second to last team in the Central and they are only 13-21-5 on the road, but they have won three of their last four games. It will be interesting to see if McDavid is able to play in this game, but either way, I like the Oilers to roll. Take Edmonton to win by at least two goals.
