In this article, we will formulate an Edmonton Oilers vs Chicago Blackhawks prediction for this NHL game on Saturday, October 12th at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Edmonton Oilers Betting Preview

The Edmonton Oilers are 0-1-0 this year after they lost to Winnipeg by a score of 6-0 in their first game. Edmonton trailed 2-0 after the first period and they allowed three more goals in the second, which put the game away. The Oilers outshot Winnipeg by a total of 30-20, recorded 15 hits, and went 0-1 on the power play in the game. Jeff Skinner led the Oilers with four shots on goal, while Stuart Skinner saved 8 out of 13 shots and Pickard stopped six out of seven.

Edmonton nearly won the Stanley Cup last season, but they came out very flat in the first game of the season and were blown out. The Oilers started last year very poorly as well, so they will look to turn things around sooner rather than later. I know we are only one game in, but I am never confident in the Edmonton goalie situation. The Oilers will meet the Flames after this game.

Chicago Blackhawks Betting Preview

The Chicago Blackhawks are 0-1-1 this season after they lost to Winnipeg in overtime by a score of 2-1 in their last game. Chicago led 1-0 after the second period and they held that lead for most of the third, but they allowed a goal with about a minute left to tie the game and they lost 38 seconds into overtime. The Blackhawks were outshot by a total of 35-26, recorded 17 hits, and went 0-1 on the power play in the game. Chicago got their lone goal from Donato, while Soderblom stopped 33 out of 35 shots for a .943 save percentage.

The Blackhawks lost their first game of the season against Utah by a score of 5-2, but they did play well in the second and third periods. Chicago has played pretty well through two games, but they only have one point to show for it. Chicago’s offense was a big issue last season and it looks like it is going to be a problem again this year.

Edmonton Oilers vs Chicago Blackhawks Prediction

Chicago comes into this game on the second game of a back-to-back, after they blew a late lead on Friday night and lost in overtime. The Blackhawks have scored a total of three goals in two games but will try to take advantage of an Edmonton team that lost 6-0 in their first game. The Oilers had a very emotional end to last season and they were definitely not ready to go in that first game. I know Chicago is on a back-to-back, but Edmonton showed very little fight in the opener and I think Chicago can keep it close. Take the Blackhawks +1.5 here.
