Deportivo Alaves is hosting Getafe at Estadio de Mendizorroza in round 3 in the Spanish LaLiga.

Deportivo is in terrible form, and they have won only 1 of their last 15 games. In their first two LaLiga games, Alaves has lost both of their games. In their last LaLiga match against Granada on the road, Alaves has had 44% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and low 68% of the correct passes. Alaves has lost this match 2-1. Alaves is in 19th place in the standings with 0 points, 1 scored goal, and 3 conceded goals. Joselu is the only goalscorer for Alaves with only 1 goal so far. Marin and Garcia are both injured, and they will miss this match. Alaves was lucky last season because they stayed outside the relegation zone, but barely, and this season is not going much better for Alaves, at least for now. Alaves has a decent team that shouldn’t have any problems in staying outside the relegation zone, but they just can’t get back on track, and their game is falling apart. Despite this bad form, I still think that Alaves will be able to turn things around and that they will be staying in LaLiga for at least 1 more season.

Getafe did well last season, and they ended up in 8th place in the standings. Getafe also played in the Europa League last season where they reached the Round of 16. Getafe has played only 1 game in LaLiga so far this season, and it was against Osasuna at home. Getafe was solid in that match with 55% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 4 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and low 65% of the correct passes. This wasn’t a particularly good game, but Getafe was the better team, and they scored a goal in the 54th minute. We didn’t see any more goals in this match, but Getafe has deservedly won this match 1-0. Jaime Mata is the only goalscorer for Getafe so far with 1 goal. Filip Manojlovic is the only injured player for Getafe as of right now. Getafe has a solid schedule in the next few games where they will play against the teams of equal quality. Possibly the good news for Getafe is that they will not be playing in the Europa League, which might be a good thing for them because they can focus only on LaLiga. Getafe is improving over the last couple of seasons, and I think this season will be good for them as well.

Alaves has been terrible at home and on the road, but when playing against Getafe at home, Alaves hasn’t lost any of their last 4 games. If Alaves were in a slightly better form, I would give them a look here, but there is no way I’m siding with Alaves when they are playing this bad. Getafe is in better form, and they are playing better soccer. I’m siding with Getafe.
