Bayern is at the top of Bundesliga with 64 points, 7 points more than Borussia Dortmund, and I dare to say that Bayern has another Bundesliga title in their pocket. Earlier this week, Bayern was facing Borussia Dortmund in the Der Klassiker derby, a match where this season’s champion was being decided. Bayern has had less possession, something that doesn’t happen often, 49%, 5 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and 87% of the correct passes. Bayern was the weaker team in this match because they focused more on the defensive game, and with the late goal in the first half by Kimmich, Bayern has won this match 0-1. I give credit where credit is due, I wasn’t sure if Bayern is capable of playing the defense at this level, but they clearly are. Bayern has scored 8 goals in their last 3 games, while they conceded only 2 goals. Lewandowski is still Bayern’s leading goal scorer with 27 goals, but there is another star that emerged from Bayern’s roster, Alphonso Davies. One of the fastest players out there, to be playing on the level he has been playing for Bayern as of late with only 19 years of age is absolutely amazing. Even though he still has a lot to learn, Davies is a future superstar. There are still enough games left in Bundesliga for Bayern to lose the title, but for that to happen Bayern would have to lose at least 3 games, and I don’t see that happening.

Fortuna has lost only 1 of their last 7 games, but they have 4 draws from those seven games. Fortuna is now in 16th place in the standings with 27 points, the relegation playoffs spot. Defensively, Fortuna is one of the worst teams in Bundesliga with 53 conceded goals, but unfortunately, their offense hasn’t been good enough to compensate for bad defense with only 31 scored goals. In their midweek match against Schalke at home, Fortuna has had their best game of the season. With 67% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 81% of the correct passes, Fortuna was dominant and has deservedly won this game 2-1. Hennings is Fortuna’s top goalscorer with 12 goals, while Karaman and Thommy added 6 goals each. I’m not saying that Fortuna is a better team than the rest of the teams in the relegation zone, but if they can continue their positive trend, Fortuna might just stay in Bundesliga.

There is no doubt that Bayern is the better team here, the difference in quality is obvious. With games happening every few days now, players are getting more and more tired and that is where roster depth comes to light, and that is something Bayern has plenty. When Bayern and Fortuna meet there are a lot of goals scored, I expect the same again here.
