Cagliari is welcoming Atalanta to Sardegna Arena in round 30 in Italian Serie A.

Cagliari is on a nice 3-game streak without a loss, and with these points, Cagliari has climbed the standings to 9th place where they have 39 points. In their last Serie A game against Bologna, Cagliari was forced to defend throughout the game, and they had only 39% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and low 68% of the correct passes. They didn’t deserve it, but Cagliari was able to get 1 point from this game as it ended 1-1. Joao Pedro has scored 17 goals for Cagliari this season, while Simeone added another 10 goals. Nainggolan added 6 goals and 6 assists for Cagliari so far. Pavoletti, Oliva, Pereiro, and Klavan are all injured and will skip this game, while Pellegrini, Birsa, and Miangue are all suspended. Even if Cagliari doesn’t get to the Europa League spot, and they won’t, this season was a success for Cagliari even if they stay where they are, and they are happy with that. Offensively, Cagliari was outstanding with 48 scored goals, but their defense needs work as Cagliari conceded 45 goals. I think that Cagliari has a bright future ahead of them.

At the moment, Atalanta is the best team in Serie A, and one of the best in Europe. With 12 scored goals in their last 4 games, Atalanta has won all 4 of their games since the restart, and I absolutely love the soccer they are displaying. Atalanta is always playing to score one goal more than their opponent, and it’s working brilliantly for them. With 82 scored goals so far this season, Atalanta is the best offensive team in Serie A, by far, while their defense is not that great with 39 conceded goals in 29 games. Ilicic and Muriel have both scored 15 goals for Atalanta, while Zapata added 14 goals. Gomez has assisted for 13 goals so far. Delprato is the only injured player for Atalanta. In their last Serie A game against Napoli at home, Atalanta has had 46% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 86% of the correct passes. Atalanta has scored 2 quick goals in the second half and has won this game 2-0. With 60 points, Atalanta is now in 4th place, just 4 points behind Inter in third place. Their Champions League spot is secured, the only question for Atalanta is which spot is it going to be. It’s remarkable how Atalanta turned their game and how they became one of the best teams in Serie A in just a few years. Great team, great soccer style, and the coach that knows what his players are capable of are the main ingredients of Atalanta’s success, I hope they stay this good next season as well.

There is absolutely no way I’m siding with Cagliari with all of their injuries and with the way Atalanta is playing. Cagliari is a solid team, but Atalanta is an excellent team in a great form, especially in the attacking end.
