Napoli is hosting Inter at Stadio San Paolo in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals.

Before the season started, Napoli was one of the main contestants for the Serie A title, but since they have had a lot of problems in their game and that is why Napoli is only in 6th place in the Serie A standings with 39 points. Napoli is massive 9 points away from the closest Champions League spot, but there are enough games left for them to climb the standings. In the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals, Napoli has beaten Inter 0-1 on the road and has a big advantage now. Before the season was paused, Napoli has improved a lot and they were playing in good form, hopefully, this break did more good than bad for Napoli. In their last Serie A match against Torino at home, Napoli was the better team with 64% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and high 90% of the correct passes. Napoli was dominant and in control throughout the match and has won this game 2-1. Insigne is the leading goal scorer for Napoli is Coppa Italia with three goals, while Ruiz added 1 goal. Manolas is the only injured player and he will skip this match. I like Napoli because they are playing the most attractive soccer in Italy, and it’s a big shame they went through that bad spell that knocked them out of the title race, but Napoli has a chance to win the Coppa Italia this season, and there is still time for them to get to one of the Champions League spots.

Inter has started the season in a fantastic way and they were playing the best soccer in Serie A, but they started slipping as the season advanced so I think that this hiatus was actually a good thing for Inter to gather their thoughts and fix their problems. Inter is now in 3rd place in the standings with 54 points, 9 points less than Juventus at the top, and I’m not sure if Juventus can lose 3 games until the end of the season for Inter to catch up. Inter has scored 49 goals this season, while they conceded only 24 goals. In their last match against Juventus on the road, Inter has had 47% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 86% of the correct passes. In some ways, this was a key game for Inter because if they won, the difference would be only 3 points, but Inter ended up losing this match 2-0 and now the difference is 9 points. Lukaku is the top goal scorer for Inter in Coppa Italia with 2 goals. There are no injuries or suspension in Inter which means coach Conte will have his whole roster at his disposal. Inter must go for a win here because they lost in the first leg, and they are certainly capable of winning this match, but a 3-month break is a strange thing and we have no way of knowing how will the team react.

Napoli hasn’t lost any of their last 5 games, while in the last 23 games when Napoli was playing at home against Inter, Napoli has won 12 times, inter has won 5 times, while 6 games ended in a draw. Because Inter must attack from the start in this game to catch up the deficit from the first leg, that could leave them wide open for Napoli’s counter-attacks, and because of that, I think we could see some goals here.
