SC Paderborn is hosting Borussia M’gladbach at Benteler-Arena in round 33 of German Bundesliga.

I’m sorry to say, but Paderborn is being relegated to Bundesliga 2. Paderborn is in the last place in the standings with only 20 points, 34 scored goals, and massive 68 conceded goals. Since January 19th, Paderborn has won only 1 game in Bundesliga and that was back in late January against Freiburg. Since the season started again, Paderborn has 3 losses and 4 draws, and they have conceded at least 1 goal in 5 of those 7 games. In their last match against Union Berlin, Paderborn was decent with 59% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 79% of the correct passes. Despite being a slightly better team in this game, Paderborn has lost 1-0 by an own goal in the first half. Srbeny and Mamba have both scored 5 goals for Paderborn this season. Kai Proger added 6 assists. Kilian and Schonlau are both injured. I know it doesn’t feel nice to be the last team in the league and to be relegated, but I think it’s the best for Paderborn. In Bundesliga 2, Paderborn will be a more competitive team and they will be closer to the top of the standings.

Borussia has been pretty inconsistent as of late and it might cost them the Champions League next season. M’gladbach is in 5th place in the standings with 59 points, just 1 point away from the Champions League spot. In their last Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg at home, M’gladbach was a much better team with 52% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 84% of the correct passes. Borussia M’gladbach has won this match 3-0. Overall, M’gladbach has been doing well this season on both ends, especially in the attacking end where they scored 61 goals in 32 games. Plea and Thuram have each scored 10 goals for M’gladbach, while Plea added another 10 assists, and Thuram added 7 assists. The two of them together are one of the best duos in Bundesliga, but I have a feeling at least one of them will leave M’gladbach at the end of the season, especially if they don’t qualify for the Champions League. Zakaria is the only injured player M’gladbach and he will not be playing until the end of the season. Borussia is 7-3-6 on the road this season, but they can’t afford to lose this game at any cost. If Leverkusen wins, and M’gladbach losses, that is a game over for Borussia and it will be a huge disappointment for them.

M’gladbach has beaten Paderborn at home in the reverse fixture this season. The season is over for Paderborn and they can’t save themselves anymore, but Borussia could certainly use a win here. Borussia is the better team in this matchup, and I see them winning this match without too much trouble.
