Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are clashing at Allianz Arena in a derby match or round 30 in the German Bundesliga.

Bayern is also one of the teams that refused to join the European Super League, and good for them. Bayern’s finances are in outstanding condition, and yet they are playing the best soccer in the world and they are probably the best team out there. With 68 points, Bayern is at the top of the Bundesliga table, and they will most likely win another title. Bayern is on a 2-game winning streak, and their latest win was against Wolfsburg in the beauty of the weekend. Bayern has had 53% of ball possession in that game, 9 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and only 79% of the correct passes, but Bayern has scored 3 first-half goals, and that was enough for a 2-3 win on the road. The reason Bayern is conceding so many goals lately is all the injuries. Costa, Tolisso, Lewandowski, Roca, Sule, and Gnabry are all injured, while Goretzka should be ready, and Lewandowski might join him. With 35 scored goals in 25 games, Lewandowski is the leading goalscorer for Bayern, while Muller added 10 goals and 14 assists. Bayern’s priority is to win Bundesliga, and after that DFB Pokal, and then Bayern can start searching for the new head coach because Flick is leaving after this season.

Leverkusen is finally starting to resemble the team they were at the start of the season, and they now haven’t lost any of their last 3 games in Bundesliga, while winning 2 of those 3 games. Thanks to this streak, Leverkusen is back in the Champions League race, but it’s 6 points away. Leverkusen is in 6th place with 47 points. In their last game against Koln at home, Leverkusen was decent with42% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 76% of the correct passes. If they played against a stronger team, I’m not sure Leverkusen would have gotten the win, but since they played Koln, Leverkusen has won this match 3-0. Alario is still the leading goalscorer for Leverkusen with 10 goals, but Schick is now on his tail with 9 scored goals. Bailey has added 8 goals and 6 assists. Arias, Baumgartlinger, Bender, and Fosu-Mensah are all injured. Leverkusen is now in decent form, but their schedule is not easy for the rest of the season, and I’m not sure Leverkusen has what it takes to get to that Champions League spot.

This is one of the biggest derbies in Germany, and it will be a good one. Leverkusen hasn’t won any of their last 3 games against Bayern, and all those games were at home. I know Leverkusen is in good form, and Bayern is missing a lot of players, but Leverkusen has been far too inconsistent to side with them here.
