Denmark is hosting Russia at Parken in round 3 of Group B in the Euro Cup 2021. Russia was able to beat Finland and give themselves a chance to advance to the next stage. Denmark is still without a point in this group, but they still have a chance in advancing to the next stage with a win here.
Russia has lost only 1 of their last 4 games, and that was against Belgium in round 1 in this tournament. As far as their second game goes, Russia was playing against Finland, and they were the better team with 59% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 83% of the correct passes. Russia was having a good game here, they were attacking, they have created some good chances, and they were able to score 1 goal which was enough for a 0-1 win. Miranchuk is the only goalscorer for Russia with 1 goal, while Dzyuba added 1 assist. Zhirkov is injured, and he will miss this match. Russia needs a point from this game to stay in 2nd place, but if they lose, they will be dropping to 3rd place, and that might not be enough for them to advance to the next stage.
We all know what happened to Denmark in round 1, but that is now behind them as they know that Eriksen is safe and out of the hospital, and that is a huge weight off of their shoulders. Denmark has lost both of their games so far, but if they beat Russia in this game, and if they score at least a couple of goals, they will be climbing to second place, and that will get them to the next stage. In their last game against Belgium, Denmark was solid with 47% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 85% of the correct passes. After leading in the first half, Denmark was leading 1-0, and they were the better team, but Belgium got out flying in the second half, and they scored 2 goals. Denmark was still dangerous and was creating chances, but they couldn’t score a goal, and Denmark has lost this match 1-2. Poulsen is now the only goalscorer for Denmark with only 1 goal while Hojbjerg added 1 assist. Of course, Eriksen is injured, and he will the rest of this tournament. Denmark is a good team, and they have no choice but to go for the win here, and I think they will get it.
These two teams have played only once against each other, and Russia has won that game. Even though they are still without a point in this tournament, Denmark has displayed some great soccer, and the goals will come. Russia is an average team, and I don’t think they have the quality to deal with the pressure in a match like this. I’m taking Denmark at home.
